The behaviour was very different from the behaviour noticed in my tsunami post earlier

29th Jan 07, around 6.15 pm (IST), Adyar bridge, Chennai, TamilNadu - India

A flock of ibis was flying with a specific pattern as a flock similar to the pattern followed by the crows (on 14th)but in longer spurts. They were flying low about 2 feet above water when moving away from the bridge and showing a display near the bridge. Display very similar to the crow behaviour on 14th Jan 07

A set of crows were also showing a similar display

A large set of population started enjoying the show oblivious of the warning causing a traffic jam

Use of Sirens and Pilot cars in Tamil Nadu

I am amazed at the kind of authority that petty politicians and bureaucrats in Indian politics command when it comes to road rash and indiscipline.

One day in Chennai i was coming from home to office in my car following the usual route that i generally take, there were some sirens and pilot cars which was trying to get in front of a jam packed road !! In metropolitan India where is the space for such road rage ? i dont know but that is what the police displayed, the pilot car tried pushing a auto rickshaw of the road by driving the sumo into the autoricksaw which did not have any space to move. Yes you would not believe it but he literally did that. Does the Indian constitution provide for such road rage ?

Another incident comes to my mind when it comes to blatant misuse of political status when it comes to 'bandobast'. Recently the chief minister of tamilnadu had a few social commitments that need to be met that included a marriage of the local party chief and 56th birth celebration of his son, he had to travel from chennai to madurai which he could have by air and made life comfortable for all.

I was travelling on the day from madurai to chennai when he was travelling from madurai to chennai. It was around 6.30pm when we left madurai by car all along the way we could find the usual tubelights and the party flags flying high, we noticed another in-human and unacceptable act. Every 200- 300 meters on the national highway 45B was stationed a police constable for 'Bandobast'. Each constable was equipped with a lathi for controlling traffic, a bag which had essential items like mosquito repellent, sweater/blanket and water/food. The question here is on a national highway what was the need for bandobast at the middle of the night anyone who wanted to attack could have used a rocket launcher, a group of people could have easily overpowered the single constable or plainly put whatever is possible without bandobast could have happened with bandobast as well. What was the need ?

I pity the police force which needs to put up with such petty political social commitments and cause much public inconvenience. Yes the traffic was stopped on both the ends for at least 30 mins on each side on a national highway, would the chief minister please pay for the lost time for hundreds of citizens ? The citizen might be a beggar or a CEO but you have wasted his precious time... The chief minister has to answer these questions

I suggest that the usage of sirens and bandobast be stopped inside and outside the metropolis. If bandobast is required then you are not confident of the security within the state, yes redeploy all the bandobast in action forces that handle terrorism the position will improve. The fuel used for all this bandobast can be used in providing proper roads and education in rural areas.

Mr chief minister are you listening ?
